Bahrain January-April 2021: Toyota Land Cruiser leads, Nissan Sunny up to #2 in market up 17.2%

The Sunny helps Nissan up to 10.2% share over the period.

New car sales in Bahrain are up 17.2% year-on-year over the first four months of 2021 to 8.862 registrations. Toyota remains ultra-dominant but loses almost three percentage points of market share compared to Full Year 2020 at 37.8%. Nissan on the other hand is up one percentage point to 10.2% in 2nd place, distancing Lexus at 8.1%. Hyundai loses ground but remains 4th at 6.2% with Honda triggering the only ranking change in the Top 7, gaining two spots to #5 and leapfrogging past Isuzu and Kia. Mitsubishi overtakes Mazda to rank #8 while MG remains in 10th with 3.2% share vs. 2.7% over FY2020. Haval appears at #20 and Great Wall at #31.

Model-wise, the Toyota Land Cruiser is on track for an 8th consecutive year in the lead, sporting a splendid 11.1% share which is however down on the 12.1% it held over the Full Year 2020. The Nissan Sunny is up three spots on FY2020 to land in 2nd place with 4.5% share, distancing the Toyota Hiace up four to #3 and the Toyota Corolla remaining at #4. The Isuzu TF (aka D-Max) is up one rank to #5 whereas the Toyota Hilux is down four to #6 and the Lexus LX up one to #7. Notice also the Toyota RAV4 up three to #10, the Mitsubishi L200 up five to #11 and the Toyota Land Cruiser Pickup up 10 to #12. The Kia Sonet is the best-selling recent launch at #62.
